Australian and New Zealand Podiatry Accreditation Council (ANZPAC)

This assessing authority evaluates the educational standards of programmes offered by the Australian universities, and overseas qualifications. Applicants who wish to pursue their careers in Australia and apply under General Skill Migration Categories programme must be assessed. Activities of ANZPAC are conducted in accordance with the Migration Regulation 1994 under the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP). Besides migrants, recent graduates in this field are also required for assessment if wish to practice in the country. 

 

ANZPAC roles and responsibilities:

 

·         Assessing and accrediting programs;

·         Providing guidelines and recommendations to the members of the organisation in regards to podiatric programs;

·         Advising its members on matters regarding registration;

·         Administering and maintaining the standards of accreditation and process of assessment;

·         Assessing and evaluating overseas qualification and skills of applicants;

·         Providing information to Government in relation to laws and policy for accreditation;

·         Networking and maintaining the relationship with international bodies, which practice similar activities of ANZPAC.

Skill Assessment Procedure for migration:

 

Applicants who wish to migrate and pursue their career in Australia under the Skilled Migration program are required to complete the assessment application. There are two types of Assessment for Skilled Migration of this occupation.

 

·         Modified assessment

·         Full Assessment 

 

Modified Assessment:

Applicants, who have said YES to either of the below mentioned questions, may be eligible to apply for Modified Assessment and submit Form S1-M Stage 1 Modified Desk Top Assessment Application and submit its requirements.

 

  1. You are registered under Podiatry Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a professional Podiatrist.
  2. You have been awarded your qualification in podiatry from an accredited university in Australia or New Zealand within two years prior to your migration application. 

 

Full Assessment:

If the answer is NO to both of the above mentioned questions, applicants are required to submit Form S1-F Stage 1 Desk Top Assessment Application Form and submit with mentioned requirements.

Are you required to be submitted for assessment?

Documents required:

 

·         Certificate or a degree, in original language and a certified copy of an official English translation, if applicable.

·         Official transcript, in original language and a certified copy of an official English translation, if applicable.  

·         Thesis details, if have completed a thesis or dissertation as a part of the degree, certified copies of evidence must also be provided.

·         Evidence of membership, in the relevant association, if applicable.

·         Evidence of registration/ license, if applicable.

·         Assessment form, and

·         Evidence of English proficiency**.

 

 

** English proficiency, applicant who has acquired his/her qualification from a non-English speaking country, is required to sit for IELTS examination. It is essential to achieve a minimum score of 7 in each of the four components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).

The English proficiency test required for assessment is IELTs, however, other English examinations like TOFEL iBT may also be accepted by the  relevant authoritiy.

Assessment of overseas qualification is a complex and time consuming procedure. It may take up to 8 weeks for the process to take place. After completion of the assessment a letter and Statement of Podiatry Qualification is received by the applicant. The received qualification is useful to assist:

 

·         Migration officers to determine the suitability of the applicant for migration under the General Skilled Migration Categories;

·         Registration as a podiatric under Podiatry Board of Australia ;

·         Entry to accredited podiatry courses; and

·         Eligibility for jobs as podiatrist therapist or surgeon.
