Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA)

The association is responsible to support its members in their work by improving their educational and professional standards. Therefore, applicants that wish to practice their career in Australia and migrate through Skilled Migration scheme are required to have their qualifications and skills assessed by this authority.

 

Roles and responsibilities of ACWA: 

 

·         Develop the profession of community worker;

·         Review and develop the educational standards of community worker;

·         Review and develop the professional and ethical standards of the profession;

·         Support the professional development of its members;

·         Participate in the development and improvement of profession’s knowledge;

·         Advocacy and representing the interests of its members;

·         Advicing on migration points for work experience and qualifications, 

·         Facilitate the public recognition of the community workers; and

·         Assessing and evaluating the qualifications of overseas applicants.

Have you received your qualification from an accredited University/College in Australia or New Zealand?

You do not need to have your qualification assessed.

You are required to have your qualification and skills assessed by the relevant assessing authority.

Are you required to be submitted for assessment?

Documents required:

 

·         Certificate or a degree, in original language and a certified copy of an official English translation, if applicable.

·          Employment history

·         Official transcript, in original language and a certified copy of an official English translation, if applicable.  

·         Thesis details, if have completed a thesis or dissertation as a part of the degree, certified copies of evidence must also be provided.

·         Evidence of membership, in the relevant association, if applicable.

·         Evidence of registration/ license, if applicable. and

·         Assessment form.

 

 

 

Assessment of overseas qualification is a complex and time consuming procedure. It may take up to 8 weeks for the process to take place. After completion of the assessment a Letter of Statment is received by the applicant. The received qualification is useful to assist:

 

·         Migration officers to determine the suitability of the applicant for migration under the General Skilled Migration Categories;

·         Entry to accredited relevantcourses; and

·         Eligibility for a particular job.
