University of Melbourne is an Australian public university located in Melbourne, Victoria. The University was founded in 1853 marking it as the second oldest university of Australia and oldest in Victoria. As a member of Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) and Universitas 21, students of University of Melbourne have the opportunity to enjoy exchange student program between the member universities. The University has about 3729 academic staff, 42563 students and 3521 doctoral students. 10000 of the students are international from 100 different countries.

 

Rankings:

Times Higher Education ranks Melbourne as 33rd in the world, while the QS World University Rankings places Melbourne 31st in the world. According to QS World University Subject Rankings 2015, the University of Melbourne is ranked 5th in the world for Education, 8th in Law, 13th  in Computer Science & IT, 13th in Arts and Humanities, 14th in Dentistry and 18th in Medicine.

In 2010 the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP), ranked Melbourne Uni 40th globally and highest in Australia.

Notably, in 2013 the University of Melbourne's Medicine course was ranked 9th in the world, the first time an Australian University has been ranked in the top 10 medicine schools.
