Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA)
Recently, the Institutes of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) and New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountant merged to form a newly constitute Institute as “Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand”. Together these two bring together over 100,000 trained professionals. The newly formed constitute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand respectively operates under Royal Charter and the New Zealand Institute of Charted Accountants Act 1996.
Applicants who wish to be labelled Charter Accountants have the privilege of being recognised globally and gain access to wide range of career opportunities.
ICCA roles and responsibilities:
· Offering the best trainings and programs for the professionals in business and finance;
· Providing opportunities for employees to have access to wide network;
· Providing an access to Institute community and special interest groups;
· Upholding the profession and monitoring professional standards;
· Administering and supplying up to date knowledge and information in regards to accounting profession;
· Supporting the members enrolled in commerce with regards to services and information needed;
· Providing its members access to over 13,000 books and 80 journals;
· Offering the members of the institute with special offers on quality products and services;
· Assessing the requirements of the applicant who wish to become a member of ICAA;
· Evaluating and assessing the qualifications of the migrants who wish to practise in the field of accounting for the purpose of migration; and
· Become a chartered accountant.

Skill Assessment Procedure for migration:
Overseas professionals that choose to pursue their career in Australia and migrate are needed to have their qualification and skills assessed with Australian standards. Applicants must meet the requirements and provide the required documents.

** English proficiency, applicant who has acquired his/her qualification from a non-English speaking country, is required to sit for IELTS examination. It is essential to achieve a minimum score of 7 in each of the four components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).
The English proficiency test required for assessment is IELTs, however, other English examinations like TOFEL iBT may also be accepted by the relevant authoritiy.

Assessment of overseas qualification is a complex and time consuming procedure. It may take up to 8 weeks for the process to take place. After completion of the assessment a Letter of Assessment is received by the applicant. The received qualification is useful to assist:
· Migration officers to determine the suitability of the applicant for migration under the General Skilled Migration Categories;
· Registration as an Accountant with ICAA; and
· Eligibility for relevant jobs.
