Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA)
By representing more than 5,700 dietetics and nutrition professionals allows the association to stand as the highest body of such profession in Australia. The DAA Board is in charge of administration of the company’s affairs with the mission to be the leading association in food and nutrition and improving the professional interests of its members. There are a number of companies who are in partner with DAA to support the company’s vision for healthier people and healthier nations.
DAA roles and responsibilities:
· Collaborating and cooperating with Accredited Practising Dietitians (APDs) who are also experts in food and nutrition, to communicate and deliver information about their field of studies to the public based on latest science researches;
· Providing information and publication for health professionals;
· Offering guidelines and practice recommendations to the professionals of this;
· Authorising and recognising courses offered by universities; and
· Assessing international qualification of dietetics with the standards of Australia.

Skill Assessment Procedure for migration:
Overseas professionals that choose to pursue their career in Australia and migrate are needed to have their qualification and skills assessed with Australian standards. Applicants must meet the requirements and provide the required documents.

** English proficiency, applicant who has acquired his/her qualification from a non-English speaking country, is required to sit for IELTS examination. It is essential to achieve a minimum score of 7 in each of the four components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).
The English proficiency test required for assessment is IELTs, however, other English examinations like TOFEL iBT may also be accepted by the relevant authoritiy.

Assessment of overseas qualification is a complex and time consuming procedure. It may take up to 8 weeks for the process to take place. After completion of the assessment a Letter of Assessment is received by the applicant. The received qualification is useful to assist:
· Migration officers to determine the suitability of the applicant for migration under the General Skilled Migration Categories; and
· Eligibility for relevant jobs.
