Council on Chiropractic Education Australasia (CCEA)
CCEA was founded in South Australia in 2002 as a limited liability company, responsible for authorising the high education standards in chiropractic for the community. It is important to note, the Council does not associate with registration of Chiropractors, obligation towards employment, or valuation for educational courses and trainings.
Under the Migration Regulation 1994, CCEA has been appointed by the Minister for Immigration and Border Protection as an assessing authority for the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP).The purpose of the Council is to authorise the applications for chiropractic programs, and assess the overseas qualifications for migration eligibility. For applicants who wish to obtain a work visa and meet the entry requirements to migrate to Australia, need to have their qualifications assessed by CCEA. Successful completion of this process allows the applicants to be qualified and registered in Australia under the relevant regulatory authority.
CCEA roles and responsibilities:
· Assessing and evaluating all the higher education programs in chiropractic provided in Australia ;
· Developing and maintaining the standards of accreditation for the process of assessment;
· Conducting evaluation and assessment for the applicants who wish to practice their profession in Australia;
· Monitor and review the educational system of the profession, and make any changes if required; and
· Connecting with overseas agencies that practice in the same field and maintaining the relationship with them.

Skill Assessment Procedure for migration:
Overseas professionals that choose to pursue their career in Australia and migrate are needed to have their qualification and skills assessed with Australian standards. Applicants must meet the requirements and provide the required documents.

** English proficiency, applicant who has acquired his/her qualification from a non-English speaking country, is required to sit for IELTS examination. It is essential to achieve a minimum score of 7 in each of the four components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).
The English proficiency test required for assessment is IELTs, however, other English examinations like TOFEL iBT may also be accepted by the relevant authoritiy.

Assessment of overseas qualification is a complex and time consuming procedure. It may take up to 8 weeks for the process to take place. After completion of the assessment a Letter of Assessment is received by the applicant. The received qualification is useful to assist:
· Migration officers to determine the suitability of the applicant for migration under the General Skilled Migration Categories;
· Registration as a Chiropractor with Chiropractic Board of Australia (CBA); and
· Eligibility for relevant jobs.
