Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC)

Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC)

Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC) is one of the highest organisations operating and representing more than 300,000 of the professionals across the country. The organisation was founded to administer and recognise the professional strategies, ideas and standards of practice. Although, the main objective is to maintain and administer the standards of practice and status of the professionals, over the years, additional affairs were assigned to the main mission of AVBC. Thus, today’s mission of the council is also to support the welfare of the community through the influence and practice of practitioners.

Being a part of the council provides a wide range of opportunities for its members. Members of AVBC can stay up to date with the information and knowledge in their field of practice. This will promote the benefits of such professions for the Australian community. Being a member of this Council gives the professionals a collective strong voice to uphold their interests and status in the country. Nevertheless, the organisation represents the interests of the members to governmental bodies.

AVBC is the only assessing authority that assesses the applicant’s skills and qualifications who wish to migrate to Australia with the purpose to work and practice their profession.

AVBC roles and responsibilities:

·         Developing policy on the issue of concerns;

·         Making submissions to government;

·         Advocating on behalf of their members;

·         Providing guidelines for expert witnessing procedures;

·         Registering the members for national registration;

·         Recognition and assessing the overseas professionals’ qualification;
