Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine (ANZSNM)
ANZSNM was appointed by the Minister for Immigration and Border Protection under Migration Regulation 1994 as the assessing authority for the occupations that fall under Nuclear Medicine Technologist. The authority is responsible to assess the qualification and skills of the professional are in accordance with Australian standards. Other organisations provide assistance to assessing authority for evaluation and accrediting the qualifications, these organisations are: The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.
ANZSNM roles and responsibilities:
· Providing information and services to the members;
· Accrediting programs and courses offered by Australian and New Zealand universities;
· Providing informative reference page for those who are interested in careers in the related fields;
· Network and coordinating with international Nuclear Medicine bodies for training activities;
· Registering professionals and recently graduates under Medical Radiation Practice Board; and
· Providing information and assessing overseas qualification assessment.

Skill Assessment Procedure for migration:
Individuals who wish to work as Nuclear Medicine Technologist and migrate to Australia under Skilled Migration Categories are required to have their qualifications assessed. Professionals are also required to sit for Accreditation examination after their arrival in Australia. It should be noted if applicants have received the Statment of Nuclear Medicine Technologist Qualification from Australia and wish to apply for visa under skilled migration programme are also required to apply for assessment. Recent changes have been made for the process of eligibility to work in Australia.

** English proficiency, applicant who has acquired his/her qualification from a non-English speaking country, is required to sit for IELTS examination. It is essential to achieve a minimum score of 7 in each of the four components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).
The English proficiency test required for assessment is IELTs, however, other English examinations like TOFEL iBT may also be accepted by the relevant authoritiy.

Assessment of overseas qualification is a complex and time consuming procedure. It may take up to 8 weeks for the process to take place. After completion of the assessment a letter and Statment of Nuclear Medicine Technologist Qualification is received by the applicant. The received qualification is useful to assist:
· Migration officers to determine the suitability of the applicant for migration under the General Skilled Migration Categories;
· Registration as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist under Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia ;
· Entry to accredited relevant courses; and
· Eligibility for a particular job.
