Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM)
The association is responsible to advance and maintain the standards of practice and knowledge of relative professionals. Members of this association together, create the best patient outcome and provide an environment to facilitate their activities for the best interest of patients. Their operations must be in line with the code of conduct and advanced standards of practice. ACPSEM has been approved as an assessing authority for the relevant occupation in accordance with the Migration Regulation 1944.
ACPSEM roles and responsibilities:
· Providing Training Education and Assessment Programs (TEAP) in Radiation Oncology Medical Physics (ROMP), Diagnostic Imaging (Nuclear Medicine and/or Radiology) Medical Physics (DIMP) and Radiopharmaceutical Science (RPS);
· Advocating on behalf of its members to represent their interests in the community;
· Accrediting university programs, clinics and hospitals to ensure the professional standards;
· Conducting events and courses to benefit the professionals;
· Communicating and networking with national and international bodies in the profession;
· Registering the medical scientists;
· Assessing qualifications for practitioners applying for Skilled Migration program; and
· Advising and providing information to government bodies.

Skill Assessment Procedure for migration:
Overseas professionals that choose to pursue their career in Australia and migrate are needed to have their qualification and skills assessed with Australian standards. Applicants must meet the requirements and provide the required documents.

** English proficiency, applicant who has acquired his/her qualification from a non-English speaking country, is required to sit for IELTS examination. It is essential to achieve a minimum score of 7 in each of the four components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).
The English proficiency test required for assessment is IELTs, however, other English examinations like TOFEL iBT may also be accepted by the relevant authority.

Assessment of overseas qualification is a complex and time consuming procedure. It may take up to 8 weeks for the process to take place. After completion of the assessment a Letter of Assessment is received by the applicant. The received qualification is useful to assist:
· Migration officers to determine the suitability of the applicant for migration under the General Skilled Migration Categories;
· Registration as a Medical Physicist with ACPSEM ; and
· Eligibility for relevant jobs.
