University of Southern California (USC) is a non-profit research university, located in Los Angeles, California, United States of America. This private, non-sectarian university was founded in 1880, marking it as the oldest private research university in California.

For the 2015- 2016 , 19,000 full-time undergraduate students were enrolled in the university. 

USC is also the home of 19516 of graduate students and professionals of different fields, including: Business, Law, Social Sciences and medicine. 

 

Ranking: 

In the United States News and World’s Report Annual ranking of “national universities” USC was ranked 23rd among the best 25 universities.  

Academic Ranking of World Universities ranked USC as the 46th among world universities and 32nd universities in America. 

The university ranks forty- eighth worldwide in Human Resources and Business Review , and ranks thirteenth ( tied with seven other universities ) in national universities by the Center for Measuring University Performance in 2011 won .

Publishers of the Times and The Princton Review, introduced USC for its social programs and offers as the "College of 2000". 

 

Schools and Programs: 

Most of the university students until 2007, were studying at the undergraduate level. Since then many students have been interested to continue their studies at the graduate level in this university. The university's full-time four years undergraduate curriculum, is classfied as a balance between the arts, sciences and professional coordination with higher education. 

The university offers 95 undergraduate majors and 147 academic and professional minor courses. Graduate programs at the university is provided as a "comprehensive" category. USC offers 134 master degrees, doctoral and professional degrees through the 17 professional schools.

Campus:

The university campus located in the West Adams district of South Los Angeles, 2 miles (3.2 km) southwest of download Los Angeles.  The campus boundaries are Jefferson Boulvard on the north and northeast, Figueroa Street on the southeast, Exposition Boulvard on the south, and Vermonth Avenue on the west. The University campus located within a walking distance to an outstanding buildings such Shrine Halls, Staples Center and the Coliseum in Los Angeles. 

 

Health Sciences Campus is about 2 miles (3.2 km) northeast of downtown. USC also operates an Orange County center in Irvine for business, pharmacy, social work and education; and the Information Sciences Institute, with centers in Arlington, Virginia and Marina del Rey. For its science students, USC operates the Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies located on Catalina Island just 20 miles (32 km) off the coast of Los Angeles and home to the Philip K. Wrigley Marine Science Center.
