University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO), is a top university in the field of research located in Omaha. The university offers different majors at bachelor, master and doctoral levels. More than 150 hectares of land in several university campuses is located at the heart of Omaha. This area is surrounded by residential, commercial and dinning neighborhoods. UNO offers one of the most competitive tuition fees in the region for residents and non-residents. Women's sports team includes: basketball, golf, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and vollyball.

Men's sports includes: baseball, basketball, golf, hockey, soccer and tennis. 

 

Practical learning:

  • From 2005, UNO has been among top 20 universities in the country for services in learning, community services and civic engagement.  
  • In 2012,  beat the recod of 60 thousand square feet of land for a center of social participation. The center is the first center of its kind ever built in the United States.

Examples of social participation:

  • UNO students have access to a range of internship opportnities in Omaha and across the country. The opportunity to gain professional experience before entering the work force environment is very important. 
  • UNO Service Learning Academy allows students to learn projects designed by teachers in cooperation with representatives of community organisations, to increase their activities that are planned for the society and understanding of curriculum.
  • Student-Community Leadership Service (SCLS) provides a variety of services opportunities, reciprocal and mutually beneficial opportunities for the development of students as citizens and community leaders. 
  • in 2011-2012, SCLS of University of Nebraska managed to collect an amount of $1,342,000 in 64,000 hours through community services for the society.
  • Student Organisation and Leadership Programs are actively involved in a variety of community service projects and charities.
  • Research and creative activities provide further opportunities to interact with larger communities and intergrate with scientific research institutes. 
  • Our reseatches are in collaboration with their other colleages in  governmental, educational and non-profit community organisations.
  • Our students not only participate in scientific researches, but are also prepared to again knowledge and skills as future leaders.

History:

  • Omaha University was first opened in 1908 with 26 students on Pratt Street.
  • In 1931 the Omaha University, changed to Omaha City University. 
  • Doctor Milo Bill became the president of the University in 1948, and relocated the University to its current location on Dodge Street. 
  • In 1968, the Omaha City University and the University of Nebraska System merged to constitute University of Nebraska Omaha.
  • In 2011, UNO was classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a research university/ research institution of higher education. 

 

Colleges: 

  • University of Nebraska Omaha has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
  • 40% of our students were among the top ranked school's graduates.  
  • Nearly a thrid of out students are the first member of their families, attending college.
