Natural Science
Natural Science is the study of laws governing the universe. In other words, study's the scientific methods that applies to natural sciences. Natural Sciences are considered to be applied science, thereby pure sciences like Mathematics and Statistics do not fall under this category.
At first it may be thought that only sciences, such as, Biology and Geology may be considered to be natural sciences. However the list is longer than than. Disciplines like physic, chemistry and astronomy may also be regarded as such science.
Since our universe is yet to be discovered, our knowledge about it is constantly growing. This field is still new compared to other sciences, and some of its branches like biology is quite innovative and rapidly expanding. As a result, universities are investing a lot of time and capital in the field of science, researcha and development.
Previously, Natural Science was categorised in three groups: mechanics, electrodynamics and thermodynamics. Over the years modifications has been made to these categories, hence, sciences that fall under biology, geology, physics, chemistry and astronomy are also considered to be Natural Science. Most universities in Australia offer this course, at different levels: Undergraduate, Graduate and PhD.
Some of these courses are listed below:
- Astronomy, study of Celestial objects
- Astrophysics, Geophysics, Chemical Physics, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Geochemistry, and Astrochemistry
- Athomic theory, Material Studies, Pure and Applied Chemistry
- Oceangraphy, Physical Geography, Oceangraphy, Hydrology, Meteorology, Geology, Geophysics, and Soil Science
- Quantum Mechanical, Thermodynamics, Electricity, and Mechanics
