The city is located on the Swan River, where the first areas were settled. Perth came 8th in the Economist Intelligence Unit’s August 2015 list of the World’s most livable cities. It has a temperate climate with hot and dry summers that reach maximum of 30 degrees, and rainy winters of -7 degrees.
