Non-Award Courses

Non-award courses, refers to disciplines offered by the universities that upon completion no awards will be awarded to students.  These programs are classified in regards to their applications. According to the nature of these courses, the period of these programs varies.  Students take these courses either out of interest, or to develop professional competence in an area of specialisation. In some cases, students may gain entry to undergraduate degree by providing evidence of completing non-award courses. Each year the fees of these courses are determined by the Educational Centers. Usually students choose a program, in which they have background knowledge.  For all that, students are required to have completed 12 years of school and have a degree or diploma.

Students that wish to study for this course are not required to provide evidence of English proficiency.

 

Below are list of courses offered as a non-award studies:

·         English language course (4-50 weeks)

·         Pre-university courses (8-52 weeks)

·         Interdisciplinary courses, like design and language (25 weeks)

·         Management courses (25 weeks)

·         Engineering courses (25 weeks)

·         Medical Science courses

·         Pilot Training courses 

 

It should be noted that same laws and regulations applies to these courses, as with other awarded degree courses.

 

Apply for the visa:

Non-award courses are under visa Subclass 575 and will be evaluated under Assessment Level 2.

Applicants are required to provide financial evidence, which is sufficient for the duration of the course and their living expenses. The funds may need to be in a blocked account of the applicant or applicant’s sponsor.

English courses fall under two visa categories Subclasses 570 and 575. As a result the Australian embassy has considered providing subclass 570, which has stricter requirements.

 

Note: Students that reside in Australia under Visa subclass 570 may not be eligible to apply for extension after completion of their course.
