In general Australia has 38 public and 2 private universities. These universities are classified into different categories. For example: Group 8 Universities of Australia, or Group 21 and etc. Group 8 universities of Australia are among top ranking universities of this country. In general, these educational institutions offer all different majors, like: engineering, business and managements. Programs such as: medicine, dentistry, or other health sciences are only offered by specific colleges and universities. Some universities may only offer limited courses, which are very specific and distinct.
Entry requirements of the universities are more or less the same, however depending on the type of the university may vary. Australian universities are all scattered in various states so that each of them has at least one of the G8 and several other top ranking universities.
According to global university rankings, top educational institutions of this country stand among the top 20 universities and the rest of them are among top 400.
Each university is acknowledged for series of majors, due to well academic performance of its students and faculty members. For instance: the ranking of a particular program from a university may be higher than the ranking of the same program offered by G8 universities. G8 universities do not necessary need to be best at the programs they offer. Some universities have branches in different states or offshores. All the universities have tuition fees and only small numbers of them provide scholarship for students with high academic performances. The tuition fees may differ depending on the degree level of the student.
