University of the Sunshine Coast

University of the Sunshine Coast was founded as a public university in 1996 at Sunshine Coasts of Queensland, Australia. The University offers Higher Education degrees and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) courses. Hence, students have a wide range of courses and disciplines to choose.

The main campus of University of the Sunshine Coast is at Sippy Downs in Queensland, which is located 100 km north of Brisbane.  It is a 100 hectare flora and fauna reserve, and borders the Mooloolah River National Park.

The University is building research productivity and output through collaboration and partnership with different research centers and universities. Students that are interested in the field of research and development can have access to numerous resources and facility centers.

 

Research centers of the University are:

·         Genecology Research Centre

·         Centre for Animal Health Innovation (CAHI)

·         Forest Industries Research Centre (FIRC)

·         Tropical Forest and People Research Centre (TEPCC)

·         Centre for Healthy Activities, Sport and Exercise

·         Sustainability Research Centre

 

Rankings:

The University’s ranking and reputation stands among the top universities of Queensland. In 2010 the university was the only public institution of the state that was awarded 5 stars for teaching quality, staff qualification s and graduate’s satisfaction with generic skills they learned while studying.

University of the Sunshine Coast is the only institution in the State of Queensland that the majority of its academic staffs have PhD’s and Master’s degrees. As a result the University stands in the fifth place at the national level.

Successful Graduates:

According to the reports in 2008, University of the Sunshine Coats had 83% employment rate after graduation for undergraduate students.  Moreover 92.4% of the students were satisfied with their jobs.

Other facilities such as sports complex, Library, IT Centers, Art Galleries and student accommodation complexes can be found on University’s campuses. All the student accommodation complexes are equipped with furniture and internet connection. Moreover, the library contains over 11,000 volumes and 27,000 of digital copies and more than 500 computers. The AU$10Million Stadium was opened in 2007. It has 3 Netball and Volleyball Courts, 4 Badminton, Futsal Basketball halls and Tennis Courts.
