Deakin University
Deakin University was first established in 1974 as a public university in regional Victoria. In 2014 the university was recorded to have approximately 50,644 enrolled students in higher education, and has been noted as one of the largest universities of the state. Around 6,000 international students from 100 different nations are gathered to continue their studies in this University. Deakin University has the highest enrollment of indigenous students than any other university in the state. The University has over 2600 full time staff, 1,600,000 volumes in university’s library and about 88,888 e-books and magasines.
The University has 4 campuses. Geelong Waterfront campus is the newest campus of the University, located on Corio Bay, in the central business district of Geelong. The other three campuses are located in Warrnambool, Burwood and Geelong. The total areas of these campuses are 450 hectares.
In the past two decades Deakin University has managed to increase its research funding from AU$4.5 million to AU$43.4 million. Hence, it is one of the fasted growing research universities in the country. Some of the University’s’ research themes are: Improving Health and Wellbeing, Designing Smarter Technologies, Enabling a Sustainable World, and Advancing Society and Culture.

According to Times Higher Education, in 2015, Deakin University was ranked as 45th in the World among the top Universities under 50 years old. In addition, the Graduate Management of Association of Australia (GMAA) awarded maximum 5 stars, as the top rank University of Australia for Deakin’s Master of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration (International) courses. The University was ranked 11th, 13th in the Oceana and 478 in the World, according to Webmetrics Ranking of World Universities.

Geelong Warun Ponds campus
The campus is located in the regional City of Geelong in the Suburbs of Waurn Ponds, which is 27 km south west of Melbourne. This is the second largest campus of the University, with 4300 enrolled students. In 2008, Deakin Medical School opened in this campus. Courses of arts, education, engineering, management, media and communication, medicine, health sciences, information technology, psychology and science are all offered within this campus.
