La Trobe University is located in Melbourne Victoria as one of the leading public research universities of the country. The University was established in 1964, and began its activities with only 557 students. Today La Trobe University has over 2600 enrolled students from which, 3500 of them are international from 90 different countries. La Trobe University has the highest number of campuses in Australia. The University conducts the programs in 8 of its campuses across country.

 

Bundoora is the main campus of the University opened in 1967, located in Melbourne. Bundoora campus is said to be the largest university campus in Southern Hemisphere with over 3 square km in area. Students that wish to be enrolled in La Trobe University but study Sydney, have the opportunity to study in Sydney Campus.

 

Rankings:

La Trobe appears to be strongest in the arts and humanities. In 2004, La Trobe was ranked overall 142nd of the world's top 200 universities, and 13th in Australia. In 2005, La Trobe University's world ranking rose to 98th place, placing it as one of the top 100 universities in the world, and it moved up to 11th place. 

 

The university has two colleges, made up of several schools, offering courses at all levels:

The library of the University in Melbourne is one of the richest libraries of the country. It holds over 1.6 million volumes, equipped with audio and video systems.
