Curtin University of Technology was founded in 1966, in Western Australia.  The University has the 3rd highest rate of international students in Australia. There are a number of on campus faith communities, to worship according to the standard practice of their faith tradition. Hence, Muslim students have the opportunity to become part of their own faith community right on campus.

In addition, the University has the highest number of indigenous students, as a result of University’s Centre for Aboriginal Studies. The Centre aspires to contribute to positive social changes for Indigenous Australian through higher education and research.

Today Curtin University of Technology has about 50,000 student and 4000 employees. Curtin is the 3rd University of Western Australia to be the member of Australian Technology Network (ATN). 

 

Campuses:

Although Curtin University of Technology is based in Western Australia, it has campuses in Sydney, Malaysia and Singapore. Moreover, selected courses in humanities and business are offered through regional centres including Albany, Geraldton and Port Hedland. The main campus of the University is Bentley, which is located 6 km from the centre of Perth and is 116 hectares in area.

Since Curtin University of Technology has tied with over 90 exchange universities in more than 20 countries, students have the opportunity to enjoy the exchange program.

 

In 2007, the University allocated AU$2 million to scholarship for more than 300 students.  Curtin University has a high reputation for applied research that is firmly focused on solving real world problems. Some of these research themes are: minerals and energy, ICT and emerging technologies, health, and etc.

 

Ranking:

Curtin was awarded five-stars overall in the annual QS Stars university ratings for 2014. Curtin is ranked 284 by QS World University Rankings 2015. As of 2013, the University is also ranked in The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) as one of the top 500 world universities.
