RMIT University
Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) was founded in 1887 as a public university of technology and design based in Melbourne, Victoria. It is the 3rd oldest university in Melbourne and 7th oldest in the country. It had an initial student of 320, and as of today it has an enrollment of around 82000 students across vocational, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. RMIT is a member of Association of Southeast Asian Institute of Higher Learning (ASAIHL), Global U8 Consortium (GU8), Open Universities Australia (OUA), Australian Technology Networ (ATN).
RMIT has around 30 research institutes and centres, such as: Centre for Advance Electronics and Sensors, Centre for Advanced Materials and Industrial Chemistry, Centre for Advanced Materials and Performance Textiles, Centre for Applied Social Research, Centre for Art, Society and Transformation and more.
Campuses:
The University has three campuses and two sites in Australia, two campuses in Vietnam and a research and industry collaboration centre in Spain. Melbourne City campus is the main campus of RMIT, was established in 1887 in northern section of Melbourne city centre.
Rankings:
According to the 2015/16 QS World University Rankings, RMIT University was ranked 273 in the world. RMIT University was also ranked 20th in the world for art & design subjects, making it the top design school in Australia. It is also ranked 33rd in Architecture and in the top 100 universities globally in Accounting and Finance; Mechanical and Electrical Engineering; Computer Science and Information Systems. According to the 2013 QS World University Rankings, its schools are ranked within the top 100 worldwide in the subjects of accounting, communication and media studies, and computer science & information systems.

RMIT has 6 libraries, all across its campuses. The largest library is located in the Melbourne City campus of the University and is noted as one of the top libraries of Melbourne.
