Monash University

Monash University is based in Melbourne Australia, which was founded in 1958 marking it as a second oldest university of Victoria. Monash is a member of Group of Eight and the Association of Southeast Asian Institution of Higher Learning (ASAIHL).

 

The University has a number of centres, five of which are in Victoria (Clayton, Caulfield, Berwick, Peninsula, and Parkville), one in Malaysia. Monash also has a research and teaching centre in Prato, Italy, a graduate research school in Mumbai, India and a graduate school in Jiangsu Province, China. Since December 2011, Monash has had a global alliance with the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom. Monash University courses are also delivered at other locations, including at Monash South Africa.

 

As of today the Monash University has over 15,000 administrative staff and 55,000 students (39,000 Undergraduates and 16,000 Postgraduates) including 19,000 international students. It has more applicants than any other universities in the State of Victoria.

 

Rankings:

In 2015, Times Higher Education World University Ranking placed Monash University as 73rd and 67th by QS World University Rankings. Monash is in the Top 20% in teaching, Top 10% in international outlook, Top 20% in industry income and Top 10% in research in the world in 2016.

Monash Univesity Library is one of the leading libraries in the Country, as it has over 3.2 million items.

The Monash University Museum of Art (MUMA) was established in 1961, located on the Caulfield Campus of the University. The Museum has a collection over 1500 works from significant artists.

In addition, Switchback Gallery that was opened in 1995, hosts a diverse range of exhibitions each year, from work by Monash students, to display by international artists.

There are over 50 sporting clubs at the University, offering a wide range of activities, such as:

Foodtball, cricket, hockey, rugby, baseball, tennis, squash, gyms and many more. There are over 5200 staff employed by Monash Sport.   

Monash Residential Services (MRS) is responsible for co-ordinating the operation of on-campus halls of residence. MRS manages a variety of facilities at most Australian campuses (Berwick, Clayton, Caulfield, and Peninsula) as well as South Africa.
