The University of Newcastle Australia
The University of Newcastle, Australia (UoN) also known as Newcastle University was established in 1956, as an Australian Public university in Callaghan, a suburb of Newcastle, New South Wales. Today the University has campuses in Ourimbah, Port Macquarie, Singapore and the central business districts of Newcastle and Sydney.
The main campus of the University (Callaghan campus) is about 140 hectares in area, hosting numerous buildings and facilities. There are around 4000 enrolled students including 24500 undergradutes and 8200 post graduates. In addition, 1066 academic and 1477 administrative staffs employed by UoN.
UoN is one of the top 10 research universities of Australia, and is a member of Universities Australia. The University has many research institutes and centres. Some of these research centres are:

According to Shanghai Ranking 2009, University of Newcastle, Australia was marked 364th , in the world, and 39th place among Pacific Rim countries. The same year, Times World University Ranking, ranked UoN 266th. The University’s’ Faculties of Engineering and Technology stands among top 100 schools in the world, according to Shanghai Rankings.
