Charles Darwin University
Charles Darwin University (CDU) offers a number of Scholarships to international students. A list of these awards can be found below:
· Vice- Chancellor’s International High Achievers Scholarships: outstanding students with academic excellence and high achievements may be awarded 25%-50% tuition fee scholarships for the full duration of an Undergraduate or Postgraduate Coursework degree.
· Tuition fee discount for siblings: second and subsequent siblings may have an advantage of being awarded 10% discount on tuition fees. This applies to international students, required to provide satisfactory evidence to prove the sibling relation. In addition the discount will be applied each semester subject to high academic performances.
· Australia Awards Scholarships (AAS): international students that pursue their research course at Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Australia may be eligible to apply for AAS. The award is provided by the government for to promote next generation an opportunity to undertake research, professional development and study.
· Other CDU Scholarships: There are a number of Scholarships open to both international and domestic students. Students are required to meet the eligibility of listed awards. They are as follow:
o Scholarship available to Higher Education Students:
§ CDU Foundation IT Scholarship: a maximum value of AU$2,000 grant is awarded to first year students of Bachelor of Information Technology of the Bachelor of Software Engineering Honours.
§ Gath and Lorna Robertson Scholarship in Social Sciences: a maximum value of AU$1,500 grant is awarded for two semesters to students of Bachelor Level or higher in Social Science course. In addition eligible recipients must demonstrate satisfactory academic record and financial, cultural or social disadvantages.
§ Matarazzo LC Scholarship: an amount of AU$5,000 is awarded for two semester to an outstanding student, enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce degree or dual degree course.
§ Maxwell Carment Honours Scholarship in Humanities and Social Sciences: an amount of AU$5,000 is awarded for two semester to an outstanding student, enrolled in his/hers Honours year in the area of Humanities or Social sciences.
§ Northern Territory Field Naturalist’s Club Scholarship: an amount of AU$1,000 is awarded for two semester to an outstanding postgraduate student, enrolled in the area of Natural History, Ecology and Environmental Science.
§ Top end Native Plant Society Scholarship: a maximum value of AU$ 1,000grant is awarded for two semesters to an outstanding student interested in studying in environmental science and native plants. Hence, the recipient must be enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (Honours) or Master of Environmental Management.
§ Department of Corporate Information Service Scholarship: an amount of AU$5,000 is awarded for two semester to an outstanding student, enrolled in a Higher Education course in Information Technology.
There are also a number of non-CDU scholarships open to international students offered by other organisations, government departments, and industry groups.
· Australian Government Scholarships: these are financial aids offered by Department of Education Science and Training (DEST) for study and/or research courses.
· DIKTI Scholarship awardees: The University offers scholarships for Master by Research and PhD degrees from DIKTI scholarship awardees. The recipient may have the opportunity to benefit from:
· 10 weeks of free Academic English Language tuition
· A tuition fee waiver for a third year of study for Master by Research
· A tuition fee waiver for a fourth year of study for PhD
· Australian Leadership Awards (ALA): students of Asia Pacific Region have the opportunity to be awarded ALA scholarship. This grant covers the tuition costs and living allowances. However it is provided to high quality masters and doctorate degree programs.
