There are a number of financial aids and scholarships open to domestic and international students both at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels by University of Tasmania (UTAS). 

 

UNDERGRADUATES:

Tasmanian International Scholarships (TIS): provides international students 25% reduction in registered tuition fees for the duration of their course. Recipients are required to demonstrate satisfactory grades to maintain this scholarship. A TIS is available for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.  Hence, all international applicants will be automatically assessed for TIS by admission committees.

 

10% Tuition Fee Discount:

·         International Postgraduate Discount: eligible applicants may be rewarded 10% discount on their tuition fees for enrollment in a postgraduate coursework programs. This award is available to applicants that have completed their undergraduate degree at UTAS and have applied for postgraduate coursework program.

·         Sibling Discount: siblings are previous or current applicants may be awarded 10% discount on their tuition fees for duration of their course.  The offer is available for both undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students.

·         Foundation Studies Program to Degree Discount: students that have completed their foundation studies program at UTAS and have enrolled in University’s undergraduate coursework program, may be eligible for 10% discount on tuition fee costs for duration of their course.

 

University Partner Scholarships

·         Kumar Sangakkara Scholarship: the award is available to 25 eligible Sri Lankan students, undertaking their studies in University of Tasmania at Undergraduate or Postgraduate levels.

 

Foundation Studies Program Scholarship

·         Foundation Studies High Achiever Scholarship: Five scholarships are offered to eligible students from Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Mexico. Recipients must be enrolled in Foundation Studies Program undergraduate course of the University to encourage and assist high achieving students to undertake their studies at UTAS.

 

Australian Government Scholarships

·         Australia Awards Scholarships (AAS):  eligible recipients of specific countries may be awarded AAS. The scholarship covers full tuition fees of the recipients for duration of their course. In addition a payment of AU$5,000 is made as a contribution towards accommodation, study materials and other expenses. Scholars may also be eligible for AU$30,000 worth of grant per year for living expenses.

 

·         John Allwright Fellowship (JAF) – Australian Council for International Agricultural Research (ACIA): the Scholarship is part of Australia Awards offered to eligible recipients.

 

·         Endeavour Scholarship and Fellowship: these are internationally competitive merit based provided by Australian Government for citizens of Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Europe and the Americas to undertake their studies, research and professional developments in Australia. The recipients will receive a total sum of AU$3,000 for travel expenses, AU$2,000 for establishment allowance, monthly stipend of AU$3,000 and costs of health insurance and travel insurance will be fully covered by the Scholarship.

 

POSTGRADUATES:

 

·         International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS): Australian Government Covers the international tuition fees for students of higher degree by research at the University of Tasmania. Also the IPRS provides overseas students and their dependents the cost of their Health Cover.

 

·         Tasmania Graduate Research Scholarships: an amount of AU$25,849 available for all research disciplines at UTAS, and will be available to eligible recipients with demonstrated research ability.

 

·         Elite Research Scholarships: an amount of AU$33,349 is awarded to high outstanding international students with high academic achievement in their previous course of studies.  

 

·         Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships: these are internationally competitive merit based provided by Australian Government for citizens of Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Europe and the Americas to undertake their studies, research and professional developments in Australia. The recipients will receive a total sum of AU$3,000 for travel expenses, AU$2,000 for establishment allowance, monthly stipend of AU$3,000 and costs of health insurance and travel insurance will be fully covered by the Scholarship.

 

·         CONCICYT-Chile UTAS Scholarship: are available for students of Chile that wish to continue their studies in Australia for doctoral degree in UTAS, particularly in the areas of marine science, fisheries, climate change, aquaculture, agriculture and forestry.
