Macquarie University offers more than 100 scholarships for international students.
Macquarie University International Scholarships: these scholarships are awarded to high achieving international students. Below is a list of these scholarships:
· Vice- Chancellor’s International Scholarships: these are country specific scholarships awarded to international students with academic excellence and provide financial assistance at undergraduate or postgraduate levels. This is a partial scholarship for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. An amount of AU$10,000 will be contributed towards the recipients’ tuition fees, mainly in the areas of: Engineering, Environment, Human Science, Media, Linguistics and Education.
· Country Scholarships: the scholarship is open to undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students of specific countries. Applied applicants will have their applications assessed automatically for eligibility of this scholarship. Country scholarships are available for:
o Japan Scholarships
o Latin America Scholarship
o Macquarie University Africa Development Scholarship
o Macquarie University Thailand Support Scholarship
o Macquarie University Tuition Fee Grant for Indian Students
o Macquarie University Tuition Fee Grant for Nepalese Students
o Macquarie University Tuition Fee Grant for Pakistani Students
o Macquarie University Tuition Fee Grant for Sri Lankan Students
o Philippine Country Support Scholarship
o Vietnam Country Support Scholarship
· English Language Scholarships: The Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship (VCIS), is open to international students enrolled in English Language Program of Macquarie University English Language Centre. An amount of AU$2,500 is awarded to eligible recipients as contribution towards the tuition fees.
· Selected High School Scholarships: international students that have completed their Year 12 in selected Australian high schools may be eligible to apply for this grant. Top students of these selected schools will be eligible for AU$4,000 partial scholarship.
· Partner Scholarships: the scholarships are awarded to students based on agreements between the University and its partners. Maximum amount of AU$135,000 can be awarded towards the commencement fee or reimbursement, and is open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Australian Government Scholarships: These scholarships are funded by Australian Government for students of specific countries to encourage the students to undertake their studies and research in Australia. The funds are available for the duration of full degree.
Other Macquarie scholarships
Research scholarships:
o Research Pathway Scholarship: the university offers a number of scholarships to international Master by Research (MRes) Candidates through the competitive IPRS (International Postgraduate Research Scholarship) each year. The award is offered to eligible students to cover their MRes year 2tuition fees and living stipend.
o International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS): the scholarship is open to international Master of Research (MRes) students applying for an MRes/PhD through this competitive selection. IPRS covers tuition fees and health cover for the duration of applicant’s course. This is a merit based scholarship offered to outstanding international students, with history of scholarships and prizes at the undergraduate level.

MGSM scholarships and awards: Newly commenced international PhD candidates may be eligible for scholarships. The grants are offered to the first approved 30 international students. The value of these scholarships varies between each faculty that can be awarded to recipient for duration of his/her course.
