Why Boston?
Boston is a vibrant, multicultural city with a rich, historic past. It was the scene of several key historical events of the American Revolution, including the Boston Tea Party and the Battle of Bunker Hill. The city’s renowned colleges and universities, including Harvard and MIT, make Boston an international center for education and innovation. Boston’s athletic teams have won 34 championships in baseball, basketball, American football, and hockey and eight championships since 2002. There is no better place in the US to be a sports fan.

Example of our field trips by subjects
Natural Science
Includes working with live animals at the New England Aquarium
General Marine Biology
From making sure animals are healthy to inspecting tanks and introducing new animals into exhibits, students will follow aquarium biologists and have the chance to see life behind the glass.
Fish anatomy
Students learn about anatomy and gain dissection skills while examining the inside of a fish.
H2O
Students will test mystery bottles of water using the same analysis methods used at the aquarium. Students will perform a variety of tests, on phosphate and chlorine levels for example, to determine just what is in the water bottles.
and many others...
Skills of inquiry; properties of matter; number sense and operation; measurement; data analysis, statistics and probability; materials and tools, characteristics of plants and animals; adaptations of living things

Business, Finance and Entrepreneurship
From Single Idea to Company
Students learn about establishing a company, creating a business plan, forming a team, business development and sales and marketing.
Characteristics of successful companies
Students learn and analyze successful start-ups and companies that failed. Includes visiting a local company. One of our favorites is TAZA Chocolate. About the company:
“At the Taza Chocolate Factory in Somerville, Mass, we craft stone ground chocolate from bean to bar. Our story began when Taza founder Alex Whitmore took his first bite of stone ground chocolate while traveling in Oaxaca, Mexico, and came home so inspired that he decided to create a chocolate factory. Fueled by a passion for Mexican chocolate traditions, he learned to hand- carve the granite millstones that we use today to grind cacao into rustic, organic dark chocolate that bursts with bright, bold flavor and texture.
Through our Direct Trade Certified Cacao program, Taza cultivates face-to-face relationships with farmers. By working together directly, we can source the highest quality cacao possible, while paying our farmers a premium above the Fair Trade cacao price.”

Renewable Energy
We need energy for our everyday lives – to power our buildings and personal devices, to transport goods, and to travel. Yet, the energy sources we've come to rely upon – such as oil, gas, and coal – will eventually run out. Energized! Class focuses on sunlight, wind, moving water, and other self-replenishing sources that generate cleaner energy with fewer negative side effects. Hands-on interactive, models, videos, and other activities spark curiosity and understanding about renewable energy, innovative energy technologies, and today's complex energy choices. Students will follow the path of energy from sunlight to rooftop panels to Theater of Electricity, and learn more about our Wind Turbine Lab. Experiment with rooftop-like solar panels to energize a model solar house, adjust a mirror array to focus sunlight on a "Solar Collector” and map a view of renewable energy installations around Massachusetts, and "Power Boston" by making their own energy choices.
Solar Energy in Action
MIT solar car team will lead an interactive class with their world famous solar car. The new vehicle, Eleanor, is equipped with wireless links so lead and chase vehicles will be able to monitor every aspect of the cars electrical performance in real time. Its batteries have enough energy, when fully charged, to get the car from Boston to New York City without need of sunlight.
